Eventually a full ban on visual NSFW content was announced by Tumblr. The Tumblr NSFW Content Purge refers to a late 2018 incident in which Tumblr's iOS app was removed from the App Store, and numerous blogs with NSFW content subsequently deleted, due to a reported issue with child pornography.
